Today we pause to honor those among us who have dedicated their lives to defending our country. These heroes put on their uniforms and put their lives on the line for our freedoms. We are grateful for your dedication and selfless sacrifice.
As a Union, we must ensure our veterans are provided with career opportunities when they transition to civilian life. Far too often, veterans return home and struggle to find employment that provides the wages and benefits needed to support their families.
Our veterans deserve the very best. That’s why Local 4 partners with Helmets to Hardhats, a national nonprofit organization which has paired over 25,000 active-duty military service members, veterans, National Guard, and reservists with high-quality union construction jobs. We are proud to have many Operating Engineer veterans from Helmets to Hardhats among our ranks and are here for support your success. If you know someone who is returning from military service, I encourage you to refer them to this outstanding program.
