Brothers and Sisters,

I hope this message finds you and yours safe and healthy.

On Monday, May 18, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts announced it will begin the first phase of re-opening the state’s economy. The state’s previous stay-at-home advisory has been revised, allowing many industries to return in a limited capacity. This means that construction sites may resume work, as long as they are not under a local moratorium.

The Local 4 Union Hall, Funds Office, and Training Center are also scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, May 26th. We will remain operational and ready to assist. Our phone lines and emails are open for any questions or concerns you may have during normal business hours of 8 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday. Visitors will be required to call for assistance.

Please note that we will continue adhering to all Massachusetts social distancing guidelines during this time. For that reason, all union meetings, satellite offices, apprentice training, and journeyman and journeywoman courses are closed and/or canceled until further notice.

Additionally, please review the following resources for more information on the state’s re-opening process and safety requirements:

We already uphold the strongest safety standards in the industry, and we’ll be closely monitoring each contractor’s and job site’s protocols to ensure compliance. We’re also counting on each of you to lead by example and take these standards seriously, for the sake of our peers, our families, and our entire community.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your Business Representative or the Union Hall. Together, we’ll emerge from this stronger than ever.

In Solidarity,

Bill McLaughlin
