Brothers and Sisters,
Happy Labor Day! Over 130 years ago, the idea of a “workingmen’s holiday” began to catch on in cities across the country. And in 1894, recognizing workers’ hard work, the U.S. created a federal holiday to honor working people and our achievements.
A strong labor movement is a key to a strong middle class. Alongside our union Brothers and Sisters in every profession, we’ve fought and won countless protections for the American worker: minimum wage, industry safety standards, 8-hour workdays, weekends, paid overtime, and much more. These incredible strides were the fruit of union organizing that benefits and uplifts ALL workers.
In the face of a deadly pandemic, Local 4 has continued to build and service our region, promote safe workplaces, and advocate for economic opportunity for all. We have shown our communities what we have known all along: that our work is essential.
On behalf of all of us at Local 4, thank you for your continued work and dedication. Together, we will continue to be one of the most powerful voices for heavy equipment operators, mechanics, surveyors, and service technicians in the country.
Have a safe and happy Labor Day.
In Solidarity,
