Brothers and Sisters,
We must act today to protect families and our working conditions. Together we have worked hard to build steady jobs for our families in New Hampshire. Now, proponents of so-called “Right to Work” (RTW) laws are spreading misinformation, claiming that this legislation will protect workers — but this could not be further from the truth.
“Right to Work” attacks the very protections and security that we enjoy as union members. Primary arguments in support of “Right to Work” legislation say that workers are “forced” to join a union, but, in fact, this is already illegal at the federal level. “Right to Work” is designed to hurt our union’s bargaining strength and weaken our ability to negotiate fair wages, benefits, and safe working conditions.
This legislation will do nothing more than hurt the pockets of all working people in the Granite State. Studies show that, on average, hourly wages in RTW states are 16% lower than in non-RTW states. For families in RTW states, the median family income is about $10,000 less per year. Our hard-working families DO NOT deserve a $10,000 pay cut — especially in the midst of a pandemic.
We must stand together and tell legislators that “Right to Work” is WRONG for New Hampshire, and urge them to vote against it. Visit https://nhfamiliesforfreedom.org/ and follow the steps to contact your legislator.
In Solidarity,
